About Buc Rugby
The Birmingham Area Youth Rugby Football Club Buccaneers is a high school rugby team playing in Rugby Michigan’s East Division. Established in 2002, the team has provided high-quality rugby experiences for more than 400 student athletes from the greater Birmingham and Bloomfield communities, as well as other Oakland County school districts. The team has played approximately 200 games, winning state titles in 2007 and 2021.
BucRugby embraces a tradition of excellence that measures success not by wins and losses, but by preparing and transitioning its members to play at the next level. Approximately 20 percent of Buccaneers go on to play for colleges, university, amateur, semi-pro, and professional teams. Our program offers high school students the opportunity to play an aggressive, competitive sport during the spring semester. Rugby is a great way to maintain and improve strength, conditioning and coordination for other fall and winter sports. Our staff teaches a game our players will carry with them wherever life may take them and provides access to an informal membership in a growing network of possible social and career opportunities. Buccaneers get the chance to make acquaintances, build friendships, and develop leadership and team skills. But, most importantly, HAVE FUN.
