BucAlumni Sighting
MSU Rugby 60th Anniversary
The Michigan State University Rugby Football Club celebrated its 60th anniversary this fall. The program hosted a banquet celebrating six decades of Hoonyak rugby, which was attended by several BucAlumni.
Birmingham High School Rugby Coach Brad Warner played for the Spartans from 1991 to 1994 and was at the event. He caught up with current BucAlumni that are on the Spartan’s First XV roster, as well as those that have hung up the green-and-white jersey.

Brogan Schlesener played for the Birmingham High School Rugby team from 2022 to 2024. Now a sophomore at Michigan State University, he plays center and wing for the rugby team.
Caleb Drenner played for Birmingham in 2021 and helped the team to a Division II Michigan State High School Rugby Championship. He played all four years for the Spartan and has started his career in logistics.
Jacob Broyles is one of the few four-year players coming out of BucRugby, playing from 2018 to 2021. He played rugby for the Spartans for two years before having to step away from the pitch. He currently is finishing his final year at MSU.
Eduardo Ferdinandi played for the Bucs from 2020 to 2022. He is a senior at Michigan State and plays fullback for the Spartans and is a clutch kicker for the team.
