Michigan High School Rugby Playoff Information
Tomorrow morning, our 14 players head west to Holland to play in the first round of the Michigan High School Rugby Division 2 playoffs. The team has worked extremely hard to achieve this goal, which they set way back in January at our season planning meeting. We will be playing a man short this weekend, so the team will have to work harder than the entire field of completion to continue its regular season unbeaten streak.
Here are the logistical information for Saturday –
- We play Rockford High School’s Developmental Side at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at:
Macatawa Bay Middle School (It also may be referred to as West Ottawa Middle School)
3700 140th Ave
Holland, Michigan 49424
- We will warm up at 12 p.m. So, plan on being at the field next to the stadium, boots on, ready to go, at noon sharp.
- Give yourself three hours to get to the venue. Construction on 696 and 96 can cause severe unexpected delays.
- We will not be providing lunch. Be sure to hydrate and get proper nutrition in you on the way to the game.
- The game will be two 30-minute halves. In the event of a tie, there will be a 10-minute break, followed by a 10- minute overtime period. If tied at the end of the overtime period, then we move to sudden death 22-meter kicks, alternating on each kick. The first team to miss after an opponent makes a kick, loses. Kickers must be chosen from players on the field at the end of the match.
- No animals permitted on school grounds.
- No alcohol or drugs on school grounds. Any violations to this will be asked to leave school grounds and not return for the remainder of the playoffs.
- Any official abuse will be dealt with immediately and the offender will be asked to leave the facility for the rest of the playoffs.
If we win tomorrow, we will return to play the winner of the Portage / St. Joseph match at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We will take it one win at a time, starting tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Looking forward to the team playing its best rugby yet!
