BucRugby Update: Week of March 15, 2026
We have an exciting week coming up as we prepare for our first travel tournament of the season. It is an important week of practice, as we continue to develop our rugby skills and game understanding. We will need all our players to make as many practices as possible this week to put us in a good position to attain one of our 2026 season goals – winning both games at the Northcoast High School Rugby Festival this Saturday in Mentor Ohio.
Here is a summary of this week’s activities.
Practice As Usual – We are still at Norup International (14450 Manhattan St, Oak Park, MI 48237) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. this week. This is an important week of practice, as we will be working on position play and installing our offense scheme.
Travel on Friday – The team travels to the Four Points by Sheraton Cleveland-Eastlake (35000 Curtis Boulevard, Eastlake, Ohio 44095) on Friday evening. We will rally at Groves High School (by the stadium gates) starting at 6 p.m. to get our players in their assigned transportation vehicles and organize our caravan east toward Mentor, Ohio. We will depart for the hotel from Groves no later than 6:30 p.m. We will assign rooms when the coaches get to the hotel around 10 p.m. We will have a team meeting at 10:30 in lobby dinning area to go over our plan for Saturday and hand out socks and shorts. Players must be in their assigned rooms with lights out by midnight.
Game Day Saturday – We will be up and out of the hotel no later than 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. We will grab breakfast bags and head over to the Mentor High School Football Stadium (6477 Center St, Mentor, Ohio 44060) to start warming up by 8 a.m. While the game schedule has not been released yet, we will prepare to be the opening match of the festival at 9 a.m. Our boxed lunches from DiBellas will be delivered at 11:30 a.m. and we will plan on playing our afternoon game as early as 1 p.m. However, we could be kicking off as late as 4 p.m. We will head home directly after our second match.
Activities Recap:
- Team Store Closes Today – Today is the last chance to order team apparel and yard signs. So, head over to https://86400bbr.square.site/ to get your BucRugby merch ordered before it is too late!
- Six Nations Watch Party – Many thanks to the Wards for hosting the Six Nations Watch Party on Saturday. Players, parents, and coaches enjoyed their hospitality and an England vs. France match that went down to the last seconds of the contest!
There is a lot going on this week. So, expect another update to come out on Wednesday regarding our Northcoast High School Rugby Festival travel plans.
