BucRugby Update: Week of April 5, 2026

Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope you had a great week off and are coming back rested, rejuvenated, and ready for rugby.

Our return to rugby this week is very busy, with several programs and activities starting on Monday with practice and our Team Social, to our game on Sunday against the Toledo Junior Celts in Toledo. Here is a summary of the important points on our schedule this week.

• Practice – Our practice location has moved to Pierce Elementary (1829 Pierce St, Birmingham, MI 48009) for the rest of the season. We are practicing Monday through Thursday this week from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. We will be calling it a little early to allow our players and coaching staff to get to the Side Car Sider Bar around 7:30 to participate in our Team Social.
• Team Social and Fundraiser – We are holding our annual team social and fundraising night on Monday, April 6 at the Side Car Slider Bar in Downtown Birmingham (117 Willits St, Birmingham, MI 48009). A percentage of food sales will be donated to the team to help offset operational costs. So, let’s pack the joint with family, friends, fans, and alumni! We also will be handing out team apparel orders and will have other merch available for purchase.

TUESDAY

• Practice – Pierce Elementary from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
• Player Vertical Raise Fundraiser- We are holding our annual player-led Vertical Raise fundraiser kickoff meeting at practice on Tuesday, April 7, at the end of practice. Players need to come to practice with at least 20 emails and 10 phone numbers of family, friends, and supporters that may be willing to donate to the team.

WEDNESDAY

• Practice – Pierce Elementary from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
• Team Captains and Selectors Elections – We will be holding elections for the 2026 BucRugby captains and selectors on Wednesday after practice. All players are eligible for these positions and only players present during the election process are allowed to vote.

• Practice – Pierce Elementary from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
• Genesee Match Cancelled / Possible Intersquad Scrimmage – Due to circumstances beyond our team’s control, the April 9 match with Genesee has been cancelled. We will be holding practice on Thursday, instead. Please note that we are entertaining the idea of holding a Red & Black intersquad scrimmage that day.

• April 12 Match vs. Toledo Junior Celts – We travel to Toledo (2400 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, OH 43620) to play the Junior Celts on Sunday, March 12, at 12:30 p.m. This is one only two Sunday matches we have all season. Please hold the date for this game and plan on being at the field by 11:30 a.m. for warm up.
