BucRugby Update: Week of April 12, 2026

The Bucs opened the week with a rare Sunday match against the Toledo Junior Celts’ second team. The squad performed well and came away with a convincing 71-19 victory. More importantly, all 25 players got a half or more to show off their development since our two Matches in Mentor back on March 21. We will be building off what we learned today in preparation for our match against Rockford High School in Lansing on Thursday.

Here is this week’s schedule, as we move toward Thursday’s game –

Practice Monday and Tuesday – We are back to work at Pierce Elementary on Monday and Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Due to a school event on Wednesday, April 15, we are not able to use the field. So, we will not be holding practice on Wednesday.

Match vs. Rockford High School on Thursday – The Bucs travel to Frances Park (2701 Moores River Dr, Lansing, MI 48911) on Thursday, April 16, to play the Rockford High School Rams’ second team at 6 p.m. Both teams are traveling over an hour to this midway point to play on the neutral field being provided by the Lansing Rugby Club. The field is situated close to the Red Cedar River and there is a small chance of flooding, as we are supposed to get rain every day this week. We will keep you updated on the game status as the week progresses.

Vertical Raise Fundraiser – Our only player-led fundraiser is underway. If you would like to give to the team to help lower the team’s operational cost burden on our players, click here.

Looking Ahead . . .

Midwest High School Championship Tournament – The team is traveling to Elkhart, Indiana, on Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3. We will be playing two games on Saturday and one on Sunday. A travel information Zoom meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m., to go over all the details.

In the meantime, let’s get everyone out to Monday and Tuesday’s practice this week and travel with a full team to Lansing on Thursday to play Rockford.
