BucRugby Update: Week of April 20, 2025

The team finally saw some rugby action last week with our two-game series against Washtenaw on Thursday. Our opponent is in a rebuilding phase, so we played Sevens, which is the Olympic version of rugby. Our players got a crash course in Sevens by the newest addition to our coaching staff – Pat Khalaf. Pat, who recently coached the Detroit Tradesmen Rugby Football Club to two national championship runs in Sevens, will be center stage again this week as we prepare for another Sevens series against Anchor Bay High School on Friday.

Practicing As Usual

We are practicing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week at Pierce Elementary from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. As we play Anchor Bay on Friday, we will use Thursday as an added practice opportunity to develop our Sevens skills.

Playing Anchor Bay on Friday

The team travels to Anchor Bay High School (6319 County Line Rd, Fair Haven, MI 48023) on Friday afternoon to play two games of Sevens against the Tars, kicking off at 6 p.m. sharp. Players are advised to leave for the matches at 3:30 p.m. to get to the high school by 5 p.m. to warm up. Please let a captain or a coach know if you need a ride.

Player Vertical Raise Campaign

Our player-led Vertical Raise fundraising campaign is now underway. Please help the team offset rising costs by making a donation
