BucRugby Update: Week of March 16, 2025

The Buccaneers had a successful trip to Mentor, Ohio on Friday to play in the Northcoast High School Rugby Festival. The lean, but gritty, travel squad won both games on Saturday, giving fans an exciting outcome to a tough contest against Orchard Park from New York.

Practice This Week

Regarding this week, we are back practicing at Norup International Academy from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We hope to see all our players on Monday, as we will be giving out Man of the Match balls and discussing what we learned from Saturday’s games. This is the last week of practice before Spring Break and hope to lay a solid foundation for us to build on when we return March 31.

Team Social & Fundraiser

For a third year in a row, we will be holding a team social and fundraiser at the Sidecar Slider Bar in downtown Birmingham on Monday March 31, from 7 to 9 p.m. This is a great event where our parents can meet our coaches, talk with alumni in attendance, and get to build our team culture. We will have team apparel for sale and running 50/50 raffle to help raise money to lower player dues. A portion of every food bill will be donated back to the team. We hope to see you at this fun event!

First Game Date & Location Change

In case you may have missed the update on our first match of the regular season, the team, date, and location has changed. We are now playing Howell High School at Howell, on Wednesday, April 2, at 6 p.m. An updated season schedule is posted on our Forms page.

Remember, we are still taking new players! If you or anyone you know would like to give rugby a try, come on out to a practice.
