BucRugby Update: Week of May 10, 2026

Happy Mother’s Day! We hope all our moms enjoyed their time today with their sons. We appreciate everything you do!

We have an exciting game coming up on Thursday, when we take on Detroit Catholic Central at home on Thursday at 6 p.m. This is an important match that will impact our playoff aspirations. So, let’s see what we can do to bring a few fans out to Derby to cheer on the Bucs.

Here is how the week looks –

Monday through Wednesday – We are continuing to practice this week at Pierce Elementary from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We need all players to attend our trainings to prepare for our last two games of the regular season. If all goes well, will be playing in the first round of the state championship playoffs on Saturday, May 23.

Thursday – The Bucs will take on Detroit Catholic Central’s second team on Thursday, May 14, at 6 p.m. at Derby Middle School. This is the second to last game of the regular season and it should be great contest between two strong programs. Like last Thursday, players need to be at Derby at 4:30 p.m. to help dress the field for the matches and warn up at 5 p.m.

Looking Ahead –

Next week, we close the regular season on Wednesday, May 20, at home against Howell High School. If we win our last two games, we will be playing on Saturday, May 23, in the first round of the Michigan High School Rugby Championship. More to come on this when we get past Detroit Catholic Central.

Just a few more weeks of high school rugby left. So, let’s make them good ones!
