Northcoast High School Rugby Festival Men of the Match

Last weekend, the Birmingham High School Rugby Team traveled to Mentor, Ohio, to play in the Northcoast High School Rugby Festival held at Mentor High School. The team had two matches on Saturday, winning both of them.

Man of the Match: vs. Mentor High School

Dean Plennert, a Senior at Cranbook, earned a Man of the Match jersey for his smart, aggressive play against Mentor High School. As a first-year rugby player, he showed he is quickly learning the game and putting it all on the line for his teammates.

Man of the Match: vs. Orchard Park

Freshman Marcio Tavolari earned a Man of the Match jersey in the second game of the day against Orchard Park. The team fought back from a first-half deficit to tie the game late in the second half.  Marcio’s conversion kick into a 30-mph wind pushed the Bucs ahead by two in the closing seconds of the game for the win.
